The desert Broad-billed Hummingbird is most common here in Arizona. They hibernate during the night, but when the sun shines, they seek the pollen of the prickly pear cactus bloom. They have a mutually beneficial relationship, the hummer gets nectar and the cactus gets pollenated. This is a magical moment of symbiotic splendor.

This mixed media piece measures 18" x 18" x 2" on museum gallery wrapped canvas and does not need to be framed.
