But in a good way! My mind is saturated with fabulous images and memories from a recent painting trip I took to France with my painting tribe! The beauty, the special moments, all captured in precious pictures. I love to travel and this trip was truly amazing. We had an American (Southern belle) local guide from Carcassonne who specializes in tours. Each tour was more amazing than the previous....!
We visited the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, France. We painted but we did so much more! We had a special tour by the local Knight in residence, Jean Francois, who educated us on the history of the city and the way things were back then. He provided lots of myth busters.....medieval people were actually very clean and had a strong code of behavior. Men honored and respected their ladies and were willing to die for them!
Occitanie, where the castle is located is the major AOC wine-growing region of Languedoc wines and yes, we sampled a lot of fabulous wine! We toured a famous olive mill where we sampled amazing olives and oils grown in the region. We visited L'ABBAYE DE FONTROIDE, a 1000 year old monastery in Narbonne, France. We had fabulous meals and were treated to the best Cassoulet in the area. Cassoulet is local favorite stew made with white beans and duck. So yummy!
I have added just a few pics. I hope someday you will put Carcassonne on your bucket list to visit. An unforgettable experience!
